Q. Why do I need base layer or next-to-skin clothing?
A. The first layer of clothing against your skin is the most important piece of clothing you will wear, regardless of activity level or weather conditions. Technology, performance, and comfort in a base layer will allow you to be more comfortable and stay out longer, even in the most extreme conditions.

Q. Can I wear more than one base layer at a time?
A. Yes. Conditions may exist where it is optimal to wear more than one base layer garment. For example, as weather conditions or activity levels change throughout the day, removing or adding layers will keep you comfortable.

Q. How does Silvermax™ work?
A. Silver in Silvermax™ is the most conductive and reflective elements, keeping you cool when it’s warm and warm when it’s cool. Silvermax™ is also the most effective technology for inhibiting bacterial growth, keeping you odor-free for extended use.

Q. How long does Silvermax™ last?
A. Silvermax™ is permanent. With proper care, Silvermax™ performance does not diminish over time. It has been tested for more than 250 washes with virtually no reduction in performance.

Q. Do I need to activate my Silvermax™ products?
A. No activation is required with Silvermax™ products.

Q. How is Silvermax™ different than carbon scent-adsorption technologies?
A. Unlike carbon technologies which trap odors from the body, Silvermax™ prevents odors from forming. This is done by preventing the bacteria from forming.

Q. If I use Silvermax™ scent-elimination apparel, do I still need to practice scent management?
A. Optimum scent management is important regardless of what scent-elimination system you use. Silvermax™ does not absorb odors such as gasoline and smoke, it eliminates human odor. Proper washing, storage, and care of your Silvermax™ garments is an essential part of scent management.

Q. Can I use scent cover products with my Silvermax™ apparel?
A. Yes. Practicing proper scent management is recommended.

Q. Can I use Silvermax™ apparel with my carbon outerwear?
A. Silvermax™ base layer will enhance the performance of any clothing system. However, we recommend that you use the complete Silvermax™ system of base layer, outerwear, and accessories.

Q.Does Medalist® Silvermax™ camouflage apparel contain UV brighteners?

A. No, there are no UV brighteners in any of our camouflage hunting apparel. 

Q. How does the Silvermax™ outerwear work if it is not in contact with my skin?
A. Silvermax™ is a scent control system. Silvermax™ begins to work when you begin to perspire. Silvermax™ base layer rapidly wicks the moisture away from your body to the other layers. As this moisture passes to the lining of the Silvermax™ outerwear, the outerwear compliments the scent control properties of the base layer.

Q. Will the colors or patterns eventually fade?
A. No. If care instructions are properly followed, the color or pattern will not fade.

Q. Can I wear Silvermax™ in warm and cold conditions?
A. Yes. Silver is nature’s ultimate body temperature regulator. Silvermax™ efficiently reflects heat back to the body and conducts heat away from the body, keeping you warm during cool weather and cool during warm weather.

Q. Is Silvermax™ apparel safe to wear?
A. Yes. Silvermax™ is made with 99.9% pure silver, a naturally occurring element. There are no chemicals and no possibility of toxicity.

Q. Are there long term effects of the process Silvermax™ uses to inhibit bacteria?
A. There is no need to worry about long term effects. Silvermax™ is so fast-acting, the bacteria never have any opportunity to mutate. This eliminates the possibility of damaged bacteria reproducing and mutating to Super-Bugs, such as MRSA.

Q. Is Medalist® base layer difficult to clean?
A. No. Medalist® base layer is easy to maintain. Please refer to our Product Care section for more information.

Q. I’ve been hearing news reports about Nano Silver products being harmful to the environment. Is Silvermax™ a Nano Silver product?
A. No. The process used to apply Nano Silver technology is inherently impermanent, causing nano sized particles to be washed off the fabric. Silvermax™ is permanently bonded to the fiber, so the silver does not wash out, even after 250 washings.

Q. Who wears Medalist® apparel?
